Caregiver Excellence Program
We know that there are financial barriers to education. That’s why New Horizons is proud to offer two options to support you in furthering your education and career in healthcare.
Education Reimbursement
You can get reimbursed up to $500 in a calendar year when you take approved course certifications, seminars, or trainings that relate to your job.
Approved courses may cover the following topics:
- Advanced caregiver skills and specialty certifications
- Hospice, palliative care and end-of-life care
- Training for specific conditions and needs
- Culinary courses, cooking instruction, etc.
- Holistic wellness education
You may submit a course of your own finding for approval. You must apply and get approval for Education Reimbursement BEFORE you start the course.
To be eligible for education reimbursement, you must still be working for New Horizons on the day you receive education funds. You can take up to 2 courses per month. Please note that you can only be registered for reimbursement for one course at a time.

CNA Scholarships
About
New Horizons is proud to have a CNA 1 Certification Scholarship program for caregivers who are interested in furthering their education in the healthcare field. To earn a CNA 1 Scholarship, you must apply—details are listed below.
This scholarship covers up to $1,500 for eligible tuition and fees, including:
- Registration fees
- Background check fees
- State certification exam costs
The scholarship will not cover personal expenses, extraneous fees, scrubs, travel, lodging, or meals.
Where to get your CNA
You will be responsible for finding and applying to a CNA program in your local community. New Horizons does not offer a CNA course, this is a scholarship to go towards tuition at an accredited CNA program. You must apply for the scholarship BEFORE starting your CNA program in order to qualify.
How to receive scholarship funds
New Horizons can either pay the school directly if they provide an invoice, or we can reimburse you directly for fees that you have paid yourself. If you would like to be reimbursed for program expenses, you must provide a valid receipt. The scholarship covers up to $1,500 in covered expenses.
To apply for a CNA 1 scholarship:
- You must submit a one-page essay describing your motivations for pursuing a CNA1 certification.
- You must submit one letter of recommendation: This letter can come from a New Horizons manager, director, nurse case manager, client, or professional connection.
- You must be a full-time caregiver (30 hours/week) for New Horizons
- You must have been working at New Horizons for a minimum of 90 days to apply.
- You must be a caregiver in good standing with New Horizons, including a positive attendance record
Please note that application reviews may take up to 10 business days. Although eligibility requirements must be met, approval is not guaranteed. All applications are carefully reviewed, and final decisions are made at the discretion of New Horizons. Questions? Email cgexcellence@nhcares.com
