Hello I’m Krala, I’m the human resources specialist in the Klamath Falls office. I started with the company about six months ago and I started with them as a caregiver actually. And then I moved over to a training specialist position. And all my responsibilities as a training specialist just merged right into a human resources specialist, which is my current position with the company now. So there is lots of room to grow with us, tons of opportunity to learn new skills constantly.
One of my favorite memories would be when I was caregiving, I had went out with a client who was getting a little bit further into his dementia and the family wasn’t really sure what was going on with him. So I was able to provide that education piece to her, and also show her a couple little tricks. So we put some music on in the front room and the client was dancing around and he was singing songs that she didn’t even realize that he remembered the lyrics to. So it was incredible just to watch that dementia go away and for our client to come back as this normal person and you know unfortunately, when the song was over the dementia did come back but it was a very beautiful moment to share with our client and the family.
I love New Horizons because we are really truly a family. We look out for each other whether it's in the office, whether you’re a caregiver, or if you’re located in one of our other regions. We definitely look out for each other and we all try to just work as a great big team.
I think for this company specifically, the moment that I am most proud of is being recognized for all the hard work that I had done and given an opportunity that I actually didn’t even see was in my grasp.
