Arthritis-Think You May Have it?

Arthritis is caused by inflammation of the tissue lining the joints. With that being said, there are seven types of arthritis, but the two that most commonly occur are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the leading form and normally affects people that are aging. This condition tends to effect the fingers, knees, and hips. It is quite normal for individuals that had sports injuries or accidents that involved their joints in their younger years to contract arthritis in those areas. Rheumatoid arthritis occurs when the body’s own defense system does not function properly. It affects joints and bones (normally one’s hands and feet) and may also affect internal organs and systems. One may feel sick or tired and could even run a fever with this type. What are some symptoms one may be developing or have arthritis?
  • Having a fever randomly
  • Weight loss (drastic)
  • Having respiratory issues
  • Developing a sudden rash or itch
How does one go about treating this? The first step to treatment if you suspect that you have arthritis is to go see your doctor. He or she will be the only one able to run tests and verify if one does or does not have arthritis and which type as well.
